Who is Cybersonica? Cybersalon runs Cybersonica. Formed in 1997, Cybersalon is one of London's leading forums and events organisers for new technology artists, activists and researchers, presenting a series of live events on new media and digital culture in arts and cultural venues, universities, cyber cafes, clubs and pubs across London. From August 2000-2003, Cybersalon ran sell-out nights at the ICA. Since November 2003, Cybersalon have been artists in residence at the Science Museum's Dana Centre - the UK's only venue to experience and discuss contemporary issues in science.
Who's involved with Cybersonica? Cybersonica 06 is presented in association with the Science Museum's Dana Centre and in partnership with the Encompass Festival - navigating the business and art of cutting edge music at Shoreditch Town Hall, EC1 and five East London club and performance venues from 11-13th May 2006 and b.TWEEN 06 - the Festival of Future Entertainment at the National Museum of Photography, Film and Television in Bradford from 24-26 May 2006. Cybersonica 06 collaborators and contributors include Addictive TV, Cinefeel, samurai.fm, Soundtoys.net, Threshold and Umami.
Why Cybersonica? Cybersonica was inspired by Cybersalon's highly successful one-day event at the ICA in 2001, 'net.music', featuring Matt Black of ColdCut, Rocket Network and music theorist Jacques Attali. Now in it's fifth year, Cybersonica has since played host to some of the leading artists, musicians, academics, DJs, VJs and audiovisualisers in the field. |
